Update IV
Published on: 01/16/2022
With this fourth (and extremely late) installment of the Scorecard Update Project, a total of 12 scorecards were updated both in wording as well as with the newer scorecard chart format that was debuted in Update 1. Of the 12 scorecards that were updated, only 5 included changes to the scores of the switches whereas the remaining 7 received only text based changes. This now makes for a total of 42 scorecards updated to ‘V2 status’, with 20 total scoring changes across the first four updates.
#1. Bobagum (62g)
Sound
Upon coming around to the point where I was updating this scorecard again, I pulled out my bag of initial samples and checked them more thoroughly and with respect to batch variances that I simply wasn’t paying as much attention to at the time. At the result of finding some inconsistent, seemingly random but subtle spring ping I felt that the single point deduction on this merit was reasonable.

#2. Gateron Ink Yellow V2
Context
Originally, the contextual score for the V1 Scorecard of these switches pointed to them being seemingly ‘random’ in design and variation from the rest of the Ink family of switches. Time has shown, though, that these were predecessors or at least inspired the design changes that led to the Box Ink Blacks and Box Ink Pinks. This, matched with surprising staying power in the community consciousness has led to the one point bump in context.

#3. Varmilo EC V2 Daisy
Push Feel
When going back over my initial feelings about these switches, I didn’t have many scorecards at the time and was simply too harsh on the push feeling of these switches. While they have their flaws, the smoothness especially is deserving of this score boost.
Sound
On revisiting of the switches, the generally thin and plasticky sounding top housing was much more harsh than I had initially considered. The already mediocre performance did not stand the test of time and thus I dropped the point in this category.
Context
Originally points were considered here for the interesting ultralight weight offering that Varmilo provided in the EC V2 Daisy switches as this is rare for OEM style manufacturers to do. I’ve chosen to move this point to the ‘Other’ section instead, hence the deduction of point here and increase in the ‘Other’ section.
Other

#4. Varmilo EC V2 Rose
Push Feel
Much like was noted above for the Varmilo EC V2 Daisy switches, my initial scoring on the push feeling was entirely too harsh. Revisiting the smoothness and issues of the Varmilo EC V2 switches has led to me the belief that they deserve this score in Push Feel.
Wobble
The heavier spring weight of the EC V2 Rose actually does slightly cut down on the stem wobble of the switches a slight bit more than the other EC V2 switches as well as I had initially given it credit for.
Sound
As above with the EC V2 Daisy switches, upon revisiting these, the generally thin and plasticky sounding top housing was much more harsh than I had initially considered. The already mediocre performance did not stand the test of time and thus I dropped the point in this category.
